Production - Latest Shot List Plan

Due to the circumstances we found ourselves in during filming, there have been some changes to the order of our scenes and the content which we had planned. Here is an outline as to what was changed and what plan we are now following to edit our music video.

Shots 1-19 will stay the same, the only change being that in shot 19 there are no boxes.
Shots 20-34 (the fort scene) had to be cut due to windy weather conditions.
Shots 35-37 will be moved to a fort scene later on in the video.*
Shots 38-44 will stay the same.
Shots 45-48 have also been cut.
Shots 49-63 (fighting in the woods scene) stays the same.
Added fort scenes will go here.
*Shots 35-37 will follow.
Here we will add some shots we improvised where the children destroy the boxes or "forts".
Shots 64-80 are the Finale.

Throughout the music video there will be added angles/shots in most scenes. 

Planning - Digipak and Magazine Advert Mock ups

We made eight mock-ups, the first four are digipak covers and the second four are magazine adverts. We made them to practise designing and creating our own cover and magazine adverts before using a similar format to make our final products.

Production - Filming

However, due to the weather our filming did not go quite to plan.

On the Monday the wind was very strong, so we were unable to film the shots with the box forts otherwise the boxes would have blown everywhere. So instead we filmed the inside scenes of the "king" waking up and in the bathroom.

We then wanted to get as much of the fighting scenes done as we could, so we decided to use a selection of different cameras to reduce filming time and to get different angles of the same shot. This also means that some of the qualities will look different. This is used in Bastille's video for the song Laura Palmer, where some of the shots have the effect of being filmed on a standard video camera.

We also filmed most of the fight sequences in Lucy's (my) garden because it was more sheltered from the wind.

So on Tuesday, once we had filmed at Natalia's house and in the woods, which pretty much went according to plan (the only shot we couldn't get to work was the arrow next to the kings head as the arrow would not stay on the tree). We then went back to Lucy's (my) house to film the box forts. The wind was still very strong, but not so strong that we couldn't do anything with the boxes. So we had to take out the shots of the box forts being built because the wind would have blown them around so much that the shoot would have taken too long. Instead we built the forts and took shots of the teams inside their forts and then had the two teams charging at each other and fighting. Now, because we took out the building sequence we had some space to fill up, so we decided to let the teams destroy each other's forts, and by filming with two cameras at the same time we got some good shots.

By the time we got to Wednesday we were ahead of schedule so we only had to shoot three scenes, so as we had extra time we shot the same scene from several different angles to be able to choose the best one.

Planning - Tutorials

Sticking to the storyboard, we wanted the scene of the King collecting his friends to be made into a split screen of 4 frames. As we were unsure how to do this, we looked for films that used this technique and was successful. Chloe found exactly what we were looking for  in Mean Girls in a scene depicting a four-way phone conversation.

As we couldn't find how to do this on the internet, I messaged the editor of Mean Girls on Facebook. Unfortunately she did not reply but we did work out how to do it after watching tutorials on how to manipulate the movement of the footage on the screen.

When creating my digipak and magazine advert I want to use the effect of a drop shadow. As I have have not used photoshop before I have looked on YouTube for a tutorial and found one which will be very useful.
